The Invisibilia podcast discussed Norwegian 'Slow TV'. I decided to make this entire trip all Slow TV videos. This video is the ride for the entire day.
I had planned the ride of the Columbia river in two sections jut because of the lenth, time and weather. Earlier in the year was good for the southern route, July / August is good for the northern half. That SHOULD allow you to avoid the start of fire season. Always good to take a look at the map starting in July.
I left early in the morning headed east, stopped at Soap Lake, another dry beautiful lake view, normal eastern Washington landscape:
Mostly I just enjoyed the landscape. The left hand turn that I took trying to get to the White Willow Motel on the map put me right in the path of a fire, I had to turn around and backtrack around the fire, but the ride on those nice twisty roads was worth it :-).
Right before I got to the motel I decided to get dinenr at the Fort Spokane Store and Restaurant. An interesting place for dinner. All in one stop shopping if you need it. Friendly place.
Finally stopped for for the night at White Willow Motel, VERY quiet, very few lights, late at night you can see the stars ... And the turkeys:
