Motorcycle ride along the Columbia River starting from Radium Hot Springs Canada and spending time on Priest Lake at Elkins Resort in Idaho 2022-09-08
The Invisibilia podcast discussed Norwegian 'Slow TV'. I decided to make this entire trip all Slow TV videos. This video is the ride for the entire day.
Radium Hot Springs was close to the start of the Columbia River. Going south I would go by Columbia Lake, (the start of the Columbia River) and finish the day at Priest Lake at the Elkins Resort. Priest Lake puts me right in the middle of the Selkirk International Scenic Loop, the only scenic byway that crosses a border (from the website).
By the time you get down to Fairmount Hot Springs, the Columbia River crossing looks like a nice smallish river:
Just as a reminder when it exits the Pacific you see:
After leaving Fairmount I pulled off to get a good look at Columbia Lake, for a final picture of where the Columbia River starts:
Continuing down the highway it was mostly clear, keeping an eye on the fuel tank. Prices of gas in Canada are higher than in the US, so I prefer to gas up in the US. Crossed the International Border at the Kingsgate Crossingcoming back into Idaho. I prefer the smaller international border crossings even though they seem to be only open from 8 AM to 4 PM. Never been congested when I get there. Continued riding south, west then a little north to get to the Elskins Resort. Nice bright sunshine day at the lake:
But by nightfall the smoke from the fires in the region had started to settle in:
Arrived at cabin at Elkins Resort and settled in for the night.
