Motorcycle Trip Wandering Around Moscow, Idaho May 13, 2021
A playlist of all of the videos from the ride from May 11 thru May 14, 2021.
The day started by riding out Moscow and into the mountains. I took a look at the map before I started up and made sure that I had enough gas stations along the route and planned stops for gas. Nothing but blue skies, a few puffy clouds, hills and trees. The roads in this part of the country all go up into the hills you just have to figure out which ones to take. State Road 12 - Lolo Pass - Is a CLASSIC ride.
The loop around Highway's 3, 6 and 9 take you through the trees and empty highways. Of course, there are twisties and forests.
Nice view down the road and through the trees:
There are also simple pastoral scenes of Pastures and lakes as you roll on through:
Idaho Old State Highway 7 is HIGHLY recommended. AMAZING twisties. Loved it.
I stopped at my favorite restaurant in Kooskia, the Kooskia Cafe. I also got gas across the street. The trip to Elk City and back is about 130 miles and just in case the gas station in Elk City was out / closed I didn't want to take a chance on running out of gas. A few miles down the road and I was on Highway 14:
A video of riding along State Highway 14 to Elk City Idaho. 'What is in Elk City Idaho" ... 'The end of State Highway 14, 40+ miles of road that follows EVERY curve in the South Fork Clearwater River.
There is a gas station, a couple of places for food and a hotel in Elk City just in case you need to stop:
Absolutely amazing landscape looking out over the town:
Retracing the road back the beautiful South Fork Clearwater River and the snow still under the trees off the side of the road:
And the rapids just off the highway:
From there I went back to my lodgings in Moscow Idaho for the night. Long day riding 410 miles.
I was encouraged by a Invisibilia podcast on a phenomenon of Norwegian Slow TV to make a video of this ride of 9.5 hours of the ride.
