A playlist of all of the videos from the ride of 2025-06-12 to 2025-07-01. Some of the playlist is hours of just riding, i.e. Slow TV videos, some are just short clips.
A videos of todays ride are in two parts, St. Robert Missouri to Lincoln Illinois Part 1 and Lincoln Illinois to Chicago Illinois - Part 2.
June 22 - St Robert, Missouri
Took June 22nd off to get some laundry done. Got breakfast and had a 'Muggins'. I had absolutely NO idea what it was, it was 'today's special'. That is why I like to travel off the road, you get to try things you would never have known about. But it was deadly. Eggs, sausage, gravy, biscuit, cheese, potatoes. Tasted REALLY good:
Found a Route 66 gem, the St Robert Route 66 Neon Park, George M. Reed Roadside Park:
June 23 - From St Robert, Missouri to Pontiac, Illinois
Riding to Pontiac, IL it was as you might expect in the Mid West ... VAST fields of corn. Everywhere. As far as the eye can see:
Many of these cities you ride through will have a town square at the center. I was, however, impressed by the Logan County Courthouse in the city of Lincoln Illinois town square. HUGE dome withe very large clocks, built in 1905. Civil War monument in the center of the picture:
June 24 - Pontiac, Illinois and then finish Route 66 in Chicago
Made a final drive to the end of Route 66 on Jackson Avenue. You can expect LOTS of construction around the city. The West Side of Chicago is a lower income neighborhood, you can always take the highways if you start to feel nervous about the neighborhoods you are travelling through. A asked a Chicago guy that was just walking by to take this picture of me at the end of Route 66 and he did, nice guy. I have relatives in Chicago (doesn't EVERYBODY know someone in Chicago? :-)) and I stayed the night with them after the picture:
