A videos of todays ride are in two parts, Chicago Illinois to International Falls Part 1 and International Falls to Nestor Falls Ontario on Route 71 - Part 2. The camera cut out on me after the restaurant.

June 25 - From Chicago to Eau Claire

When I started going north out of Chicago the weather became cooler. As it has been said on a motorcycle you are usually on one side or the other of being comfortable. I had been watching the weather and I knew a front would blow through in the next couple of days. The ride north was a little cold and rainy.

Going up the highway, needed some gas & a little food stopped at the 'Highway Cafe' where they had another deadly meal, HUGE pastries. Cinnamon Rolls the size of dinner plates:

At the end of the day if I was in a hotel I would look at my destination for the next 4 or 5 days and make the reservations if needed. By this time in the trip I have become weary of unpcking and openeing up the tent for two days in a row then getting to a hotel. I started alternating says in a hotel and days camping. I also decided that if I was going to take a long trip to make distance, carrying a tent was more bother since I had to take the tent off the bike every night anyway no matter what (to keep it from dissapearing). The tent is more for multiple nights in the same place.

June 26 - Riding from Eau Claire to International Falls ALMOST to Canada

I am a geek, you may have guessed. Stopped at a rest area only to find a 'Three Way Continental Divide'. A place where a drop of water could end up North, South or East:

Had a camp site in International Falls Minnesota, small town considering how much the Weather Enthusiasts like to talk about it. The weather was moderate when I stopped, good tent weather with a *little* bit of rain.

June 27 - international Falls to Winnipeg Manitoba, the start of Trans Canda Highway 1 (it is Highway 17 to the East in Ontario)

Highway 71 takes you straight north to highway 17 when then took me to Highway 1. Technically highway 17 is ALSO the Trans Canada Highway but I was not going to ride to the East coast. Took highway 17 going west to get me to the start of Highway 1, the Trans Canada Highway. Highway 71 is AMAZING, it takes you through lakes and long straight lonely highways where you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere:

Once I reached Highway 17 I knew that there was a marker that was the longitudinal center of Canada. I pulled off to get the picture, a better place to stop is the rest area just a little further down. Signs in French AND English because Canada is a bilingual country:

Stopped for the night in Winnipeg and OF COURSE had to order Poutine. A specialty of Canada:
