Motorcycle Trip Through The Cascades On United States Route 2

US Route 2 (Stevens Pass Highway) offers views of the mountains, deep forest and lots of twisties. The Summit opens up to the wide open sky at the Stevens Pass Resort area. This is where the Pacific Crest Trail crosses US 2:
The the PCTA (Pacific Crest Trail Association) protects, maintains, and advocates for the Pacific Crest Trail.

Starting on the West side is the town of Monroe, WA. since USR2 is one of the main passes from the heavily populated West to the East side it is best not to travel East on Saturday morning or return home going West on Sunday after noon. Traffic backups are horrendous. If this is the ONLY times you can travel then you can route around SOME of the traffic by taking Ben Howard road, but it only buys you a little bit of the traffic slowdown. Please note that Ben Howard has LOTS of twisties / turns and you should pay careful attention to speed limits and suggested curve limits.

About 65+ miles out of Monroe WA heading east towards Leavenworth is the Nason Creek Rest Area, since I drink coffee in Monroe usually about the time I am ready to take a break I need to stop at this rest stop. Your other option is Stevens Pass or continue to Levenworth.

On the Eastern side you end up at Leavenworth Washington, a town known for its Bavarian style architecture and themes:

US R2 is a simple drive, can't really go wrong:
